A Different Kind of Peace

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.

What brings you peace?  Is it when you blot out the noise of the world, entering into binge-watching a show, or watching sports on television?  Are those sources of peace? Maybe sometimes it feels like those things bring us peace, but in reality – they turn out to be more about escaping what is than embracing peace.

Finding a different kind of peace happens when we go deeper into being who we are, and who we were created to be.  When we listen to the truth God has for us, when we open our hearts and minds to the promises of the love of Christ, and stay present to our lives – a different kind of peace meets us on that journey.

Reflection Questions:

  • When have you experienced peace in your life?
  • What are you usually doing when you lose track of time?
  • When do you feel most like the person you were created to be?

Prayer:  Dear God, Help me find the peace you offer.  Help me lay down the things that distract me, and say yes to you! In Jesus Name, Amen
