Creative Writing as a Spiritual Practice leads us to explore the power of story to transform lives.  Through reflecting on the intersection points between creative and spiritual formation, my hope is to help you unlock opportunities for growth in your relationship with yourself, other people, and God.

Upcoming Retreat

Creative Writing as a Spiritual Practice will be offered at Cedarkirk Presbyterian Camp and Conference Center in 2023.To read about last year’s retreat, click the link below.

Creative Writing as a Spiritual Practice Groups are happening online now! You can join an email group, or a Facebook page, and begin writing with a community of people who want to grow in faith through writing!

Come away from the busyness of your life to experience creative writing as a spiritual practice. I work with groups and plan experiential retreats that weave writing and spiritual formation. Retreats are typically 24 to 48 hours, and are held at different venues around the country.

Not ready for a whole retreat? I am available to provide a workshop as part of your conference or program. These workshops can be from one to two hours, for small or large groups, and include interactive exercises to give people an opportunity to experience and reflect on these spiritual practices first hand.

Cedarkirk is a year round camp and conference center owned by the Presbyteries of Tampa Bay and Peace River. It is located on the Alafia River within 170 acres of woodlands, wetlands, and uplands. Cedarkirk is dedicated to providing a place for individuals and groups to have the opportunity for spiritual renewal and growth in a natural environment.
Welcoming across boundaries by providing overnight and day-use accommodations and meeting spaces for individuals and groups. We offer delicious, locally-sourced food; simple, comfortable guestrooms; and a caring touch that honors the distinctive needs of each guest
The Montreat Conference Center is one of the largest conference centers affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). For over 100 years, we have been a place set apart for those who journey here seeking a closer relationship with their Creator. Our mission statement is, “Encountering God through relationships, renewal, recreation, and rest.”

This program is interactive with lots of writing in community and on your own. Process is much more important than product – so no matter how much (or how little) writing you’ve done in the past, this program can be for you! You can participate in-person, or by taking part in an on-line group.  Let me know on the form below how you’d be interested in joining.

Participants in this program have included people from ages 25 to 85. Small groups that already know each other, and people who’ve never met before have felt that they’ve grown in their relationship with God and with each other. Clergy have also been enthusiastic participants in these programs.
